1. Both use line that is autographic, that is, recognizably their own.
2. Van Gogh's line is loose, free, expressive and energetic, applied with thick, bold strokes of impasto.
3. In paintings such as The Starry Night, Van Gogh expressed deep emotions that he described as almost a cry of anguish.
4. Le Witt's line expresses a different personality. In works such as Wall Drawing No. 681 C, his line is precise, controlled, mathematical, and rationally organized,.

1. Nu-Wa is the Chinese creation goddess, who is worshiped as the intermediary between men and women, the giver of children, and the inventor of marriage.
2. To create humans, she began molding each one individually. That became tedious, so she dipped a rope in mud and swung it, covering the earth with lumps of mud.
3. The handmade figurines became the wealthy and noble; those that arose from the mud were the poor and common.
4. Hung Liu uses different lines, both gestural and controlled, dripped and carefully drawn, to imply the full story of creation.
