In 2011, during the early days of the Egyptian Revolution, Hammam went to Tahrir Square to photograph the arrival of the Egyptian army, which had been called in to guarantee order. As the protests continued under the protection of the army, Hammam photographed the soldiers in unguarded moments of daydreaming, vulnerability, flirtation, and kindness.
