Answer to Question 1

The printing press made it possible to devise a notice that could be reproduced hundreds of times and distributed to a larger population. The Industrial Revolution, for its part, dramatically increased the commercial applications of graphic design, allowing for huge quantities of goods to be produced in centralized factories for wide distribution.

Answer to Question 2

A
Antarctic Tidal Rhythms, records the rising and setting times for the moon and the sun over the course of a year. It grows from a circular base that represents twenty-four hours, with each weave representing an hour. Miebach refers to her baskets as temporal landscapes, for they make visible the shape of data over a length of time.
