Choose a painting medium and explain its characteristics. Select an artist who is known for working primarily in one medium and discuss how this medium seems to meet the needs of the artist's subjects and messages.

Answers will vary depending on the selection of artwork. For example, Frescos have survived to the present day from the civilizations of the ancient Mediterranean, from China and India, and from the early civilizations of Mexico.
