parallel structure. Structural balance demands that whenever the parts of verbs in compound
constructions are not exactly alike in form, no verb part should be omitted.

D
The sentence The company improved the product to increase its market share employs the
active voice. The active voice expresses thoughts in a stronger, livelier, and more direct way
than does the passive voice.
