Answer to Question 1

Use the maximum (MAXA) and minimum (MINA) functions in Excel to determine the highest and lowest values in a data set. Then subtract the highest value from the lowest value to find the range of the set.

Answer to Question 2

Key an equal sign and the name of the function (either AVERAGE, MEDIAN, or MODE). Then inside parentheses key each cell to be included in the data set separated by a comma. Note: cells can also be selected by the pointing method and separated by commas.
