A Type II error is represented by ; it is the probability of failing to reject a false null hypothesis.
  Indicate whether the statement is true or false

Question 2

Test the hypotheses H0: There is no first-order autocorrelation vs. H1: There is positive first-order autocorrelation, given that: Durbin-Watson Statistic d = 1.12, n = 45, k = 5, and  = 0.05.

Answer to Question 1

T

Answer to Question 2

dL = 1.29 and dU = 1.78
The decision is made as follows:
If d < dL = 1.29, reject H0 and conclude that positive autocorrelation is present.
If 1.29 = dL  d  dU = 1.78, we say that the test is inconclusive.
If d  dU = 1.78, we conclude that there is no evidence of positive autocorrelation.
Since d = 1.12, we reject H0 and conclude that positive autocorrelation is present.
