Answer to Question 1

A

Answer to Question 2

Some of the reasons for living alone include having higher educational levels and better-paying jobs, wanting a home rather than just a place to live (such as an apartment), postponing marriage, and not depending on a man to buy a house after marriage. A second and related reason for living alone is that our values emphasize individualism. Most single Americans of all ages are highly involved in their families but prefer to live alone because doing so offers more privacy, freedom, and control over their living space than does living with parents or others.
