Answer to Question 1

Sociologist Willard Waller's principle of least interest states that the partner who is less interested in the relationship has more power, and, as a result, more control. Conversely, the person who is very interested in continuing the relationship is more dependent, has less power, and, as a result, can be manipulated or exploited.
