Answer to Question 1

C

Answer to Question 2

x 1 2 3
P(x) 0.17 0.38 0.45

y 0 1 2
P(y) 0.28 0.26 0.46

The variables X and Y are not statistically independent since
P(X = 1 ) = 0.17, P(Y = 0 ) = 0.28, and P(X = 1 and Y = 0 ) = 0.10  P(X = 1 ) P(Y = 0 ).
