The Court decided against the older police officers. It pointed out that they failed to identify the specific employment practices that caused the observed statistical disparity. And, the Court decided that the City's larger pay raises for junior police officers were based on a RFOA, that of responding to the City's legitimate goal of retaining newer police officers.
