Answer to Question 1

The company coerced the employees into joining the union it chose (Local 318) in place of the prior bargaining agent (Carpenters). It discharged an employee for supporting the prior union. Following a strike in protest of the company's unfair labor practices, the company ignored unconditional re-quests for reemployment of strikers. Violations of Sections 8(a)(1), (2), and (3) were found by NLRB.
