Wrongful Interference. Southard was stranded in Hawaii as the result of an airline strike. he had purchased a round-trip ticket before leaving his home in Denver. He sued the union for tortious interference with his contract with the airline and sought to recover the additional expense he incurred on another airline. Was the union liable to Mr. Southard?

Wrongful interference
The union was not liable. This was a legal strike and therefore one of the permitted inter-ferences with contractual or business relationships. Parties who are damaged by an em-ployer's failure to deliver foods or services as the result of a strike have no right of action against the striking union.
