In considering the use of offshore outsourcing, one must carefully evaluate the outsourcing company. Successful offshore outsourcing requires five basic prerequisites:


  • Expertise in a technical language

  • Proficiency in the companys native spoken language

  • A large staff

  • A good telecommunications setup

  • Good on-site managers from the outsourcing partner




Other selection criteria include the size of the organization, experience in the types of projects being contracted, and financial security.

Many companies experiment with small offshore outsourcing projects first, and then move on to bigger projects once they have seen positive results.

A few initiatives taken by Wipro to improve its green computing results are as follows:


  • Their Intelligent Smart Device Technology was used to optimize infrastructure management across processes, and it also lowered their carbon emissions by reducing the need for non-essential maintenance inspections.

  • The Carbon Management Solution, a carbon accounting tool enabled the company to identify GHG risks as part of reducing them.

  • They launched an e-waste disposal service.
