Both have a similar clinical picture in that there is obstruction of the bladder neck resulting in incomplete bladder emptying, difficulty urinating, and signs and symptoms of urinary tract obstruction.
BPH is enlargement of the prostate gland secondary to hyperplasia from the stiulation of dihydrotestosterone; it involves the inner group of glands of the prostate.
Prostate cancer involves the outer group of glands of the prostate.
