Answer to Question 1

True

Answer to Question 2

The first 3 weeks after fertilization are the prembryonic period. During this time, the blastocyst becomes implanted and the inner cell mass differentiates into the three germ layers. The embryonic period is from the 3rd through the 7th week. The embryo begins to assume a human shape. Also, all of the organ systems are formed during this period. Lastly, the fetal period extends from the 8th week until the time of delivery. The organism, now called a fetus, becomes larger and heavier, but there are no major changes in its basic structure. Subcutaneous fat begins to accumulate shortly before delivery.
