Answer to Question 1

ANS: C
Atherosclerosis is a form of arteriosclerosis characterized by thickening and hardening of the vessel wall. Affected arteries are narrowed, not dilated. Atherosclerosis is not related to auto-nomic nervous system imbalances, which would lead to changes in rate or rhythm.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: C
The most likely origin of the embolism is from the deep veins of the legs. An embolism is not likely to originate in the left ventricle, the systemic arteries, or the arms.
