Answer to Question 1

ANS: D
Translocation occurs when two chromosomes break and each of the broken pieces reunites with another chromosome. If chromatin is neither lost nor gained in the process, the exchange is called a balanced reciprocal translocation.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: D
The normal haploid number of chromosomes for humans is 23. Thus in a patient who has triploidy, he or she has three times that number (i.e., tri-), or 69.
