An apparent pancytopenia is noted in a patient's CBC results. A bone marrow aspirate is performed, and the M:E results are 2:1. Do these results make sense? Why or why not?

Ineffective erythropoiesis is the result of abnormal division of erythroblastic precursors, and a macrocytic MCV is often the result of an absence of folate and Vitamin B12, which are essential proteins in DNA replication.
