Answer to Question 1

If adverse effects arise, even in subsequent generations, the medical office must be able to prove the physician had the patient's consent to participate in the research.

Answer to Question 2

The medical assistant should send out notices to all patients with a medical record and give them a reasonable amount of time to contact the office to request a file transfer.
