Think about the difference between showing staff you care about them and being friends with your staff. How do you think you could show staff you care about them without crossing the line of professional distance?

Answer to Question 1

A medical office manager can show staff she cares about them by showing compassion for concerns and by treating all members of the team equally. Crossing the line into being friends can happen when the manager socializes with only certain members of the team, or acts in an unprofessional way with staff members.
