Fully engaging in the externship involves arriving to the site on time as scheduled, arriving prepared, having a positive attitude daily, asking questions to enhance learning, taking notes or keeping a journal, and attempting to learn about other areas within the office or facility to assist in learning about the bigger picture of managing patient care and maintaining a successful practice or business. Students may list the technical skills they anticipate putting into practice. Possible responses for aspects of exercising professionalism are providing good customer service, having a pleasant and cooperative attitude, effectively communicating and learning from other professionals, and being a dependable worker.
