Answer to Question 1

every shift

Rationale: AEDs should be checked for efficiency before every shift or regularly if the unit is in an office setting.

Answer to Question 2

Keep ratcheted instruments in a closed position.

Rationale: If ratcheted instruments are not open during the sterilization process, surfaces not exposed to the sterilant will remain contaminated.
