Answer to Question 1

When only one staff member performs a certain procedure or test, the receptionist must keep that person's availability in mind when scheduling appointments. For example, if the office has only one electrocardiogram (ECG) machine, it would be inappropriate for the receptionist to schedule two patients who need the machine at once.
