Answer to Question 1

This process consists of discussing with the supplier the type and number of supplies the medical office must order. The supplier then proposes a price for those supplies. The medical office manager may want to meet with more than one supplier to determine who can provide the best price. The manager may be able to negotiatethe price of supplies, especially for a clinic that orders a large number of supplies. If the manager learns that the price of a certain supply is not negotiable, other services may be negotiable, such as the cost of shipping or the delivery time for the supplies to arrive.

Answer to Question 2

Computer appointment scheduling is faster and easier than paper scheduling for those staff members experienced with the software. Some software allows the medical assistant to search for available appointment times by doctor, first available appointment, by day of the week or month, by time, and so on.
