Answer to Question 1

D
After a suprapubic prostatectomy, the patient will have a suprapubic catheter in addition to a urethral catheter. After the urethral catheter is removed (sometime after the third day), the su-prapubic catheter is clamped, and the patient attempts to void. Residual urine is measured after-ward by unclamping the suprapubic catheter. When there is no more than 60 mL of residual urine after voiding, the suprapubic catheter is removed. Adequate pain control and appetite are signs that the patient is progressing well but do not directly affect suprapubic catheter removal. The urethral catheter will need to be discontinued before the suprapubic catheter is removed.

Answer to Question 2

D
Obesity, diabetes mellitus (DM), rapid weight loss, and Crohn disease increase the risk for the development of gallstones. Native Americans and Mexican Americans have an ethnic predispo-sition to gallstones.
