The solution is instilled into the bladder via a urinary catheter. The patient should change position every 15 to 30 minutes, and the catheter is clamped for 2 hours. The nurse should not unclamp the catheter. While it is important to educate the patient about potential for positive PPD tests, education should be done at a time when the patient can focus on the information. Ambulation is not appropriate at this time.
