Answer to Question 1

A
The preferred solution for use when irrigating the eye is an intravenous bag of normal saline. In the event that normal saline is not available, the next option would be tap water.

Answer to Question 2

D
By suctioning prior to deflating the cuff, the oral liquids that are trapped above the balloon can-not be aspirated. Bleeding, negative pressure, and dislodgement of the tube are not related to cuff inflation.
