Chlamydia is an STD caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. It is thought to be the main cause of salpingitis and scarring of the fallopian tubes, thus leading to ectopic pregnancy or infertility. Patients are often asymptomatic with chlamydia infections but may present with mucopurulent discharge, dysuria, abdominal pain, fever, and abnormal vaginal bleeding.
