Answer to Question 1

ANS: B
Reiter's syndrome, a serious systemic complication of chlamydia infection, occurs more commonly in men and is characterized by urethritis, arthritis, and conjunctivitis or uveitis.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Chlamydia is an STD caused by the bacteria Chlamydia trachomatis. It is thought to be the main cause of salpingitis and scarring of the fallopian tubes, thus leading to ectopic pregnancy or infertility. It can also cause conjunctivitis in the neonate if present during delivery. Patients are often asymptomatic with chlamydia infections but may present with mucopurulent discharge, dysuria, abdominal pain, fever, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. Cervicitis and cervical motion tenderness on physical examination indicate PID. It is the causative organism in the majority of nongonococcal urethritis in both women and men.
