Holding the dressing in place for a short time facilitates dressing action. In the case of a deep wound, hydrocolloid granules or paste is applied before the wafer. Hydrocolloid granules/paste assists in absorbing drainage to increase the wearing time of the dressing. Apply a secondary dressing (e.g., ABD pad) if needed. When a secondary dressing is not used, apply nonallergic, paper tape around the edges of the hydrocolloid dressing.
