Answer to Question 1

Answer: 2

1. The hip is not placed in flexion.
2. A toilet seat riser helps the client to keep from over-flexing the hip.
3. A specialty bed is not necessary, as the client is encouraged to be up and active.
4. A wheelchair is not encouraged, but a cane or walker is encouraged to prevent falls.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: 4

1. After hip surgery, flexion of over 90 degrees is prevented.
2. The hip is maintained in abduction, not adduction, which could dislocate the joint.
