Answer to Question 1

Answer: 1

1. Due to the destruction of joint cartilage, bones become displaced and the anatomy changes, causing the affected joints to not function appropriately.
2. If pain were the only problem, the client could be placed on a pain regimen and still function. Because OA changes the structure of the joints, they will not perform as designed.
3. OA changes bone structure regardless of age of onset.
4. OA does not reduce blood flow to the joint.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: 3

1. Muscle atrophy occurs separately from bone loss during aging.
2. Kidney damage is unrelated to bone loss.
3. Bone loss causes bones to be fragile and susceptible to skeletal fractures.
4. Bone loss is not a part of diabetes, but of aging.
