Answer to Question 1

Answer: 3

1. Regular cervical biopsies would not be recommended unless there was a positive Pap smear.
2. A hysterectomy is not needed with infection unless cancer develops. The key is regular checkups.
3. Gardasil is a vaccination that is recommended, preferably before the client has been exposed to the virus. Young girls should receive a series of three shots to provide protection. However, if shots were not taken when young, it is recommended up to age 26.
4. HPV is a virus and cannot be cured with antibiotics.

Answer to Question 2

2. Unless the herpes breakout is systemic, IV antivirals are not appropriate.
3. Clients are taught to refrain from intercourse for 10 days after the lesions disappear.
4. The stress in the client's life is the priority of care for this client.
