Answer to Question 1

Answer: 3

1. There is not enough information to determine if complete bed rest is indicated.
2. Antianxiety medication may or may not be indicated.
3. Many drugs used to treat dysrhythmias must be given intravenously; an existing line must be available in an emergency.
4. Documentation of the ECG rhythm will not necessarily help the client.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: 3

1. An acute myocardial infarction does not affect breathing pattern.
2. Denial may initially help to ease anxiety and is a normal coping skill in the early stage.
3. Pain relief is vital in treating the patient with an AMI. Pain stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, increasing the heart rate and blood pressure and, in turn, myocardial workload.
4. Anxiety will be reduced through the coping mechanism of denial.
