Answer to Question 1

Answer: A

Those who are not insured, or are underinsured, often do not seek treatment in a timely manner due to finances. As a result, diagnosis is made in the later stages of the disease, resulting in decreased chance of survival and an increased cost of treatment. Children who do not have insurance have been denied health coverage in the past, but this is no longer the case; immunizations are free for children at public health clinics. Adults age 65 and older are eligible for Medicare and have access to health care for falls and other medical problems.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: C

Clients in Massachusetts have much greater access to health services than clients elsewhere in the United States, whereas clients in Mississippi face a decreasing number of healthcare providers. There is no evidence that greater numbers of older adults live in Mississippi than elsewhere in the United States or that there is a greater need for services due to increasing populations in Mississippi. There is no evidence that clients in Massachusetts have a greater need for services.
