Answer to Question 1

Answer: D

Glaucoma develops when the pressure in the eye is high enough to cause optic nerve damage. Blue eyes are not a risk factor for the development of glaucoma. Heart disease and arthritis are not risk factors for the development of glaucoma.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: D

In cases of open-angle glaucoma, the cause for the high pressure is an imbalance in the production and drainage of fluid in the eye (aqueous humor). Open-angle glaucoma often takes years to develop. Open-angle glaucoma is the most common type of glaucoma. With open-angle glaucoma, the person will have no warning sign or hint that anything is wrong.
