Answer to Question 1

Answer: D

Scissors, knives, and other sharp objects should be out of the reach of young children. Parents should not permit preschool-age children to light fireworks. Eye protection should be worn when participating in sports that lead to eye injury, such as baseball or tennis. Keep household products with harmful chemicals and solutions out of reach of young children.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: B

Adults who work outdoors and fail to wear protective gear can develop an injury to the eye. The nurse should instruct the client to wear protective glasses or goggles when firefighting. Irrigating the eyes with warm water, using artificial tears, or applying warm soaks will not prevent an injury to the eye.
