Answer to Question 1

Answer: A, B

Blunt trauma to the eye, caused by being hit with a ball, can cause lid ecchymosis, or a black eye, and subconjunctival hemorrhage. Decreased visual acuity and a reddish tint to vision can also occur because of a hyphema or bleeding into the anterior chamber of the eye. Eye pain and loss of vision are associated with penetrating injuries to the eye. A cloudy cornea is associated with burns to the eye. Photophobia and eye tearing are seen in corneal abrasions.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: B

Retinal detachment may occur after lens removal, such as after cataracts surgery. The client is not at higher risk for any of the other eye injuries.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
