Answer to Question 1

Answer: B

HELLP syndrome (hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and low platelet count) is thought to be related to severe preeclampsia. Elevated lipid panel is not a characteristic of HELLP syndrome.

Answer to Question 2

Answer: D

Preeclampsia decreases renal perfusion, causing an increase in both serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Preeclampsia also causes a decrease in nitric oxide production and the retention of serum sodium.
