Other interventions that are appropriate include avoiding overheating, educating on the risk of bed sharing, and placing the infant in a supine position, not a prone position, for sleeping.

In 2008, the rate of SIDS among African-Americans was more than twice that of Caucasians, and the rate among American Indians was more than three times greater than that among Caucasians.
