Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 2

Washing, rinsing, and drying the area will help to improve the contact of the electrodes to the skin. The unit should not be turned on until the electrodes are in place, to avoid injuring the client. The amplitude is slowly increased once the electrodes are in place to determine the level that is most effective for the client. The battery is changed when the unit is removed.

Answer to Question 2

Correct Answer: 2

The rationale for progressive muscle relaxation is to release muscle tension and minimize the negative effects of stress. It is not just a form of diversion, and will not completely eliminate pain, although it might reduce the pain experience.
