Answer to Question 1

Correct Answer: 1, 2
The physical assessment techniques of inspection and palpation are used in the examination of the female reproductive system. When completing the assessment of the female reproductive system the examiner will inspect the external genitalia. Palpation will be used in the examination of the female reproductive system. The abdomen will be palpated to assess for the size and shape of the internal organs. Percussion will not be employed in the assessment of the female reproductive system, but will be used to assess the gastrointestinal and pulmonary systems. Auscultation will not be used to assess the female reproductive system, but will be used to assess the cardiovascular, pulmonary, and gastrointestinal systems. Aspiration will not be used to assess the female reproductive system, but may be performed to obtain a sample.
