When amounts larger than 500 ml are present in the adult bladder, it becomes distended and rises above the symphysis pubis. 700 ml is the only amount listed that is above 500 ml.

The kidneys would produce the hormone erythropoietin in response to the blood lost during surgery. Erythropoietin then stimulates the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. Blood loss would not cause altered filtering ability, or decreased absorption of calcium and phosphate from the kidneys.
