Some prostitution involves homosexual relationships. As we saw in the Lawrence v.
Texas decision in Chapter 4, consenting adult homosexuals have a liberty right to
engage in whatever practices they wish in private.

What will be an ideal response?

Prostitution has long been legal in the state of Nevada. Legalizing it in other states would
generate considerable tax revenue, sorely needed at all levels of government, and
enable effective regulation.

Should that right include prostitution?
Why or why not? Should this legal liberty right, if you believe it should exist, also extend
to an ethical right?

Answer to Question 2

Assume that appropriate regulations for health and
protection from violence would accompany any legalization. Also assume that legalized
sex workers would be limited to consenting adults. Develop ethical arguments to support
legalization, especially taking into account the consequences for all persons affected by
this legalization. Then develop ethical arguments to oppose such legalization.
