Her parents were members of a religious group in Oregon called The
Followers of Christ Church, which believe in faith healing and refuse all medical
treatment. If the adult parents want to refuse medical treatment, they have that right
to do so. But did they have the right to refuse treatment on behalf of their infant
child? Does the government have an obligation to intervene to protect the interests of
the child in this circumstance? Does the parents' refusal to allow treatment of the
infant constitute murder by the parent
