Answer to Question 1

He told police that he did not help her commit suicide, but neither did
he try to stop her. In fact, he said, he sat by her side as she died. She had been
suffering from depression and numerous injuries and illnesses in her final years.
Both the husband and wife were said by family and friends to be mentally alert and
competent and capable of making such decisions. Should the husband's failure to
stop his wife from commiting suicide count as assisting a suicide? Did he violate
any moral obligations to her in failing to stop her from committing suicide?

Answer to Question 2

The doctors want to be permitted to provide medications
to patients who are terminally ill and mentally competent, so the patient can decide
later to commit suicide. The medications can also be used to lessen the severe pain
of many terminal cancers. If the prescribed drugs can be used for a clearly legal
purpose of alleviating pain, should doctors be held responsible for assisting in a
suicide if the patient uses them for this other purpose?

Every flu season is different, and even healthy people can get extremely sick from the flu, as well as spread it to others. The flu season can begin as early as October and last as late as May. Every person over six months of age should get an annual flu vaccine. The vaccine cannot cause you to get influenza, but in some seasons, may not be completely able to prevent you from acquiring influenza due to changes in causative viruses. The viruses in the flu shot are killed—there is no way they can give you the flu. Minor side effects include soreness, redness, or swelling where the shot was given. It is possible to develop a slight fever, and body aches, but these are simply signs that the body is responding to the vaccine and making itself ready to fight off the influenza virus should you come in contact with it.
