Answer to Question 1

During the first stage of labor, uterine contractions occur approximately every 30 minutes, becoming greater in intensity and duration. Cervical dilation progresses from 0 to 5 cm, and effacement progresses from 0 to 50. Rupture of the membranes (ROM) also occurs during this stage and releases amniotic fluid. It takes 820 hours of labor for the cervix to completely dilate to 10 cm and 100 effacement. At this point, the second stage of labor begins.

Answer to Question 2
