Answer to Question 1

The two forms are sealed radiation therapy and unsealed radiation therapy. In sealed radiation therapy, radioactive material such as radium, cesium-137, cobalt-60, and iridium-192 is sealed in small gold containers called seeds or within molds, plaques, needles, or other devices designed to hold the radioactive material near the malignancy. In unsealed radiation therapy, radioactive iodine-131, radioactive phosphorus-32, and radioactive gold-198 are some of the substances used. They can be instilled in a body cavity, or administered orally or intravenously.
