A basic objection to Cohen's view, which Cohen considers and rejects, is that in his view
 
  a. reason counts for too much, and feeling and intuition for too little.
  b. the concept of rights is arbitrary, and there is no empirical scientific grounds for
  it.
  c. intelligent extra-terrestrials would be denied rights, even if they are more
  intelligent than humans.
  d. species distinctions make no sense from the perspective of Darwinian evolution.
  e. humans who are comatose, senile, or severely brain-damaged would have no
  rights.
