To qualify for workers' compensation benefits, an employee must be injured while working within the scope of the job description, be injured while performing a service required by the employer, or develop a disorder that can be directly linked to employment, such as asbestosis or mercury poisoning. The worker does not have to be physically on company property to qualify for workers' compensation.
